Is your child struggling with Mathematics? Particularly with the long problem-solving questions?

The issue that your child faces is actually the ability to think critically the moment they see a long problem-solving question. With this lack of critical-thinking ability, it gives them an easy alternative way out, which is GIVING UP. And then slowly, becoming unmotivated whenever they see problem-solving questions.

Here at Precious Gems Enrichment Centre, we are able to develop their critical-thinking ability. Our program focuses on a two-way teaching approach methodology as well and 'Learning Through Talking'.

Two-way-approach

To ensure the children isn't coming into 'just another boring math class', our program is done in a way that the children themselves are able to take the role as a teacher. They will be given the opportunity to present their answers and explain step-by step critically (with the help of our teacher) on how they derive to their answers to their peers. Allowing them to speak in class, will also train them in their ability to speak with confidence in front of their peer. A person with confidence will be able to achieve anything they want in life. And all this has to start from a young age.

'Learning through Talking'

Children love to talk. Its an undeniable fact. Try to restrict them from talking, and they may at times decides to divert away from the topic being taught or simply be uninterested in participating anymore. Why do they behave this way? Think about how you will feel when your ideas/questions are being brush aside when you talk about it? How do you feel as an adult? Put yourself in your children's shoe. If they are being given the opportunity to speak out on their thinking-process, you will be to know how from which angle they are stuck at and we will then be able to guide them with missing parts through critical-thinking and thinking through analogies.

Our Problem Solving program is conducted and designed by our Math specialist, Ms Lyn.

This method of teaching is the result through observations and studies done over her 8 years of teaching her different students. She is also a strong believer that every student deserves to be given the opportunity to learn and speak.

Under her guidance, many students have improved vastly. From a grade of D (below 40 marks), her students were able to pass their PSLE with grades such as B and for those students who were willing to sacrifice and work so much harder, they were even able to attain a A grade for their PSLE!

If the students are willing to go beyond, so will Ms Lyn!

Even though our teaching methodology differs from the traditional Singapore approach of teaching, we will still be executing the lessons which will follow the MOE syllabus closely.

Its like killing two birds with one stone right?!

Here's a sneak peek of the popular problem-solving methods we are focusing on:

- Equal Model Method

- Common Ratio Method - Branching Method

Program Registration is open now! You can register your interest here.

Slots are limited - on a first-come-first-served basis.

Oh and did we mention? For this program, we are only accepting a teacher-student ratio of 1:6! We emphasis on focus and quality teaching to each and every one of our student. This is only achievable by keeping the class ratio low!
